Nubank Caixinhas

Traditional Brazilian banks tend to ignore mass retail customers, seeing them as unprofitable. Nubank, dedicated to making investments accessible to everyone, introduced Caixinhas to change that. Caixinhas helps customers feel confident about investing by letting them organize their money around personal goals. In the app, they can create customizable "buckets" with names and pictures, making it feel more personal and engaging. They can set up as many buckets as they like, and their money starts earning interest right away.

Design Driven Futures in Banking: Investing and the future of money

The pandemic has altered the course of many things, including how people approach investing. This new wave of investors isn’t seeking traditional investment solutions offered by banks; they are drawn to outliers in fintech. These developments present significant challenges in understanding how to create value for the non-traditional investor. Over the past two years, BBVA has been developing and deploying strategic foresight capabilities to facilitate strategic reflection on the major shifts in investment trends. In this talk, Andrés will explore strategies to embed this new mindset within a large organisation.

The Design Graveyard

Let's take a walk through the secret graveyard of design at Lightyear, where brilliant ideas meet their premature demise. We'll commemorate the sketches, concepts, and prototypes that never saw the light of day, exploring why some designs flourish while others get put out to pasture. We'll celebrate these fallen heroes, acknowledging their ambition while learning from their short-lived existence. From compliance concerns to evolving goals — or maybe they were just bad ideas and deserved it? Together, we'll embrace iteration as essential, build the courage to kill bad designs early, and rediscover the joy in our craft.

For people going places

At Wise, our definition of quality is to “exceed expectations.” Wise’s rebrand in 2023 generated a significant uplift in homepage registrations. It increased multi-product adoption, boosted card orders, account openings and so much more. It didn’t just exceed expectations; it blew the doors off. And it was only the beginning. Designers often talk about “getting a seat at the table,” but how do you earn one? In this talk, Nikki will take you through how Wise design quadrupled the team size, invested in people as well as quality, and made the leap from design as a service to design as a product partner.
